Using Zimbra To Manage Your Email

For those who use desktop software to manage their mail, many use Microsoft Outlook. If you have been looking for an alternative to Outlook, you might want to try Zimbra. Zimbra is a cross between desktop and web-enabled email/document/calendare management tool that was created by Yahoo. I recently tested Zimbra to see how I would like it versus Outlook and found the following things:

  • It’s web-like interface was easy to use
  • Setting up different email accounts was seamless
  • Importing Gmail email and calendar was intuitive to the program
  • Able to import many email account and keep them organized (don’t laugh but I tested it with 18 email address)

This is just a short list of things that I found helpful about Zimbra. I think that if you are looking for an alternative to Outlook then Zimbra just might be what you are looking for. Below are different ways that you can get to know more about their services:

To help you see what Zimbra looks like and some of the things that you can do with it, I thought it would be helpful to share a few screenshots with you. See below.

Great to see more people writing about Zimbra. Zimbra is truly a fantastic email/collaboration solution. I use it because my company is a hosting partner but that doesn’t mean we didn’t try a handful of other solutions over a decade or so… and then there was Zimbra and we’ll never look back.

Zimbra has a few really cool features like its Zimlets. Zimlets allow developers to create custom integration capabilities and applications to work directly from Zimbra. Like being able to integrate Zimbra directly with SalesForce or even your corporate PBX. The Zimbra desktop as an offline client is also very impressive. The best part is that Zimbra evolves extremely quickly, with software releases coming out every few months… that means that the Zimbra 1 year from now will be vastly improved to the Zimbra we use now. Compare that to the fact it took Exchange 4 years to come out with a new version… lame.
