Van Jones, who was the Special Advisor for Green Jobs, has resigned. The President Barack Obama adviser decided to step down as the controversy about his past continues to build.
One of the two main issues is the fact that Jones signed a 911 Truth Statement in 2004. The 911 Truth Statement questioned whether or not the United States federal government was in on the 9/11 terror attacks.
The other main issue is in regards to a response he made earlier in the year in February when he was aked why Democrats were having trouble taking advantage of their current control in Washington, D.C.
“The answer to that is: They’re a**holes,” said Jones, in reference to Republicans. “That’s a technical political science **term. And Barack Obama’s not an a–hole. I will say this, I can be an a**hole. And some of us who are not Barack Hussein Obama are gonna have to start getting a little bit uppity.”
In his resignation press statement, Jones said that he is the victim of smear campaign.
Said Jones: “On the eve of historic fights for health care and clean energy, opponents of reform have mounted a vicious smear campaign against me. They are using lies and distortions to distract and divide.”
