Venkatesh Prasad and Charu Sharma Sacked

May 6, 2008 by Ankit

Just in! Bangalore Royal Challengers owner Vijay Mallaya has sacked team coach Prasad and CEO Charu Sharma. Karnataka State Cricket Association (the local official cricketing body) secretary Brijesh is to replace Charu Sharma as the new CEO.

Well, this was something really fast. Mr Mallaya seems to think that sacking the support staff is the best way to increase the team’s morale. I think he is wrong. Poor old Sharma, he said on tv the other day that “I want to be CEO of this great team for my lifetime”. Maybe this comment gave it away.

  1. Hahahah even more proof the IPL is heading the way to of the EPL.
I don’t think Prasad or Sharma were one of the five players to get a duck the other night. The Bangalore team was always bound to struggle in T20. If this was a Test Match tournament they might well be on top.

yeah. With jaffer, dravid, kallis and the likes in the team, what else can you expect.

  3. praveen says:

i dont think sacking Venky and Charu shall make any difference , its the 11 players who are in the ring that matter ……….
Analogy … John Buchanan(former australia coach ) cannot lead Zimbwabe to world cup victory .

It is silly to sack Charu and venky. When you have selected a team which is definitely not the best compared to some of the other teams, what can sacking the ceo or the coach do to improve their perfomance and make them a winner.Appoining Brijesh Patel or x or y will have no effect and they will also face the same fate. It is a fooloish move to sack them.

It would have been a better move to change the team composition and try out others rather than ing wth the same set of players, be it Dravid, etc…

  5. Ashish Sanyal says:

This is a strong case for legal action against Dr Vijay Mallaya – what were Mr Sharmas deliverables as CEO? This is a new role and everyone is learning on the job.

Dr VM he is behaving like the typical spoilt middle aged kid. Know him since school “he had to buy friends” (a group of 5/6 guys would hang around him and enjoy the good life that Calcutta’s Park Street had to offer.)

All his fancy parties are still the same – lots of “air kissing” but no real well wishers/friends!!

Shame on you Dr VM – if you really have the Balls sack the captain and coach. But as Rahul Dravid is probably the most popular person and a better son of Karnataka than yourself – you would not dare!!

If you cant take the heat get out of the kitchen!

I and my friends will now only drink Fosters Beer and not fly Kingfisher Airlines.

  6. Ankit says:

Praveen, yeah…though there are exceptions: Sandeep Patil can take Kenya to Semis

Bala (may i call you that?), it was really silly indeed.

And Mr Sanyal, kudos for venting out my feelings in a better way….seems like you know him well….

thanks for all the comments…really appreciated…

  7. K. SURESH KUMAR says:

i think charu sharma should not be sacked just because he should not be fully responsible for the defeat of the team in the IPL matches .
I don”t think he should me made responsible for it.
