Video AdSense Expands to Leaderboard and Skyscraper Formats

To mark the first anniversary of video AdSense, Google expands video ads to leaderboard and skyscraper formats. Check out the sample wide skyscraper ad on the left.

Currently, standard 4:3 video ads appear at the top of skyscraper formats and the right of the leaderboard format. Wonder if Google can have video ads fill both formats. Vertical and horizontal video — now there’s a chance for advertisers to show people something new.

It’s worth noting that, 7 months later, the Google Video AdWords rollout is proceeding at a relatively slow pace. Competing ad networks are actually making much faster headway… as a video services company (silverdock.com) for online retailers, we’re acutely interested in this space. Can’t wait for market leaders to emerge — so far Google’s playing it cool.
