Video Game Ideas For Father’s Day

June has been a great month for video game releases which is perfect if you are shopping for Father’s Day. There are titles for gamers of all types so it should be fairly easy to find a good gift, even if you’re shopping at the last minute!

Action Games

If the father you are shopping for likes action packed games, I would suggest you consider the following games. Prototype (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Microsoft Windows) takes you into the world of Alex Mercer as he tries to understand his special powers while he learns who he is and where he came from.

inFamous is the first open-world action-adventure title exclusively for the PlayStation 3. As Cole, you will change from an ordinary human as you develop electricity-based superpowers after surviving a massive explosion that levels six square blocks of Empire City

In Red Faction: Guerilla (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Microsoft Windows), help Alec Mason rebel against the Earth Defense Force (EDF who have forced people into work camps on Mars in the year 2128. The graphics in this one are amazing!

Adventure and Strategy Games

Technically, Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings (Wii, Nintendo DS, PlayStation Portable, PlayStation 2) could be considered an action game but when Indiana Jones is involved, isn’t it always an adventure?

Lego Battles (Nintendo DS) falls somewhere between adventure and strategy since you will need to think about creating a base and building a team of troops who will lead you to victory.

Fans of games like Tetris and Sim City might really like Puzzle City (Nintendo DS) which combines arcade puzzle action with city-building simulations!

Sports Games

There are some excellent options for the sports lover.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 (iPhone OS, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, Wii, Xbox 360) is the most recent in the series and is the first to include the U.S. Open, the USGA Championship and the USGA’s Rules of Golf.

Virtua Tennis 2009 (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Microsoft Windows, Wii) allows gamers to create anyone using the “create-a-player” option and features 40 different courts.

Grand Slam Tennis (Wii, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360) allows gamers to take their player from the beginning of their career to four Grand Slam titles. Note – the Wii version has been released but the one for PS3 and Xbox 360 won’t be available until this fall.

Of courses, there are hundreds of games out there that could better suit your needs but these are just a few of the newest releases as suggestions for last-minute gifts. If you’ve been struggling for ideas, I hope this helped a little!
