Vince Young is soaking in the sun, fun, and football

Vince says – You can’t catch me, You can’t catch me!

It is that annual game that no one is sure they even play. It is the Pro Bowl. All the great NFL stars go to Hawaii to play in a star filled game.

Have to admit, have never seen a Pro Bowl. Talked to a lot of my friends. Their response? They actually play a game? No way.

Yes, way. Or at least that is what they are saying.

Meet Vince Young Pro Bowl team member

One of the youngest stars goes by the name of Young, Vince Young that is.

Yes, Vince is hanging out at poolside getting to know the guys and really feeling… like he belongs. (Poolside? Thought they played a football game?)

Vince came on in the second half of the season and almost took the Titans to the playoffs. While not being the greatest passer in the world, Vince does have a great set of wheels and he made good use of them.

Is it too much too soon?

“I wouldn’t worry about that. Based on what I’ve seen from him, he just wants to keep getting better and better,” Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer said. “It is one thing if he just kind of sits back now and rests on his laurels and says, ‘Hey, I got here. I made it. I’ve arrived.’

“But he doesn’t seem like that type of guy. As long as he stays hungry and keeps striving to get better, I think this guy has a chance to be a really special player for a long time.” source

Vince made is mark this year by doing something that most rookies find very difficult. The fourth quarter comeback! It almost became his calling card.

How Vince made the Pro Bowl team

You have to go back to Dan Marino to find another rookie quarterback in the Pro Bowl.

But it was not like he was just named right off the bat. No, Phillip Rivers was supposed to go, but he is nursing an injured foot. After that, the next choice was Steve McNair, who used to be a Titan and is now starting for the Ravens.

Steve declined so Vince could go to the Pro Bowl in his place. Steve and Vince are friends and, oddly enough, Vince replaced Steve McNair in Tennessee.

Making good use of his time

So what is Vince doing besides hanging at the pool?

So Young mined his fellow stars for any vein of information during the week leading up to Saturday’s game at Aloha Stadium. He got solid coaching advice from the AFC’s Bill Belichick, while Peyton Manning spoke with him about resilience. source

But more importantly, Vince learned that the rookies buy the drinks while everyone is on the beach. (The beach? Don’t they play an actual game? Or is just Madden football?)

Yeah, Vince Young has come a long way in a short time. From preparing to play against USC in the National Championship all the way to the Pro Bowl.

They do play that game, don’t they?

Might have to watch it, just to see Vince Young!
