Vince Young off to a slow start, but so is management

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.

Vince Young is passed over for the first game

Vince YoungVince Young was benched for the first exhibition game and while that may seem like a fortunate thing for many starters, since they play very little, it was not very fortunate for Vince, because he needs reps, reps, and more reps.

Tennessee lost to Washington 14 – 6.

So Vince was benched, so what?

Don’t even attempt to make this into a big deal, but don’t let it go either.

Vince needs to be the leader of this Titans team. He exhibited the ability to produce victories last year. That is a very rare commodity in the sports world and is to be treasured.

So why was Vince Young benched?

Well, Vince allegedly left his hotel Friday and went home to get some sleep. Horrors, what was he thinking of?

Vince was benched for the first exhibition game, so what?

Hey, didn’t we go over this question before? Look, Vince needs to not only get his timing down, but completely take over this team.

While we are at it, shouldn’t the General Manager be benched too? They get rid of their top receiver and top running back. What is that all about?

So who were the biggest losers in Vince not playing?

That is easy. The fans. Vince is excitement and the fans love him.

It wasn’t easy for Young to watch, and fans paying full price for their tickets were disappointed about not seeing whether the quarterback has improved since leading the Titans to an 8-8 record as a rookie.

“It’s unfortunate that he was not able to play in the game,” Fisher said. “I know there were a lot of fans that came out there to see him play. We all are sorry for that, but we’ll move on. He’s going to play next week and the week after and the week after. We’ve put it behind us and moved on.” source

Vince will be ready to play New England next week and now has a valuable lesson learned.

“It happens. You know I was the one that got singled out, so being one of the leaders, I can’t do the stuff, do that. At the same time, I guess he got this message across to the rest of the team. Now we’re moving on. Now it’s time to get ready for the team we got this week,” Young said.

If Vince Young has a big year, the NFL will market the heck out of him, just watch.

I guess he is one of the players I will watch, but it’s more sadistic than that. I want to see just how much he can do by himself. The front office completely screwed him and Jeff Fisher. For the Titans to succeed, VY will have play like he did in the Rose Bowl a couple of years ago.
