Virtual Book Tours

Market GateOne of the images we freelance writers have is traveling the country at a publisher’s expense promoting our book.

The newest twist is virtual book tours. b5media’s Home Biz blog has a two part article about virtual book tours: Dorothy Thompson – Home Business E-marketing Specialist…Part 1 and Part 2.

The Golden Pencil will be part of a virtual book tour on June 14th. We’ll be hosting cookbook writer Maria Liberati who wrote The Basic Art of Italian Cooking. With luck we’ll also schedule a live chat with Maria.

Now would be a great time post your questions – I’ll collect them and pose them during the event.

Write well and often,
Anne Wayman, writer

  1. Thank you, Anne, for mentioning my posts at Home Biz Notes about Dorothy Thompson’s virtual book tour business. Yes, Anne, virtual book tours, or blog tours, have become very popular. I’ve hosted a few at my author blog (www.maryemmallen.blogspot.com), including the one I mention of Dorothy. The most recent was author, Joyce Anthony, on Apr. 30. Another is scheduled there for May 23. They’re really fun to host. Generally the host interviews the author by asking up to 5 questions, and the author responds via e-mail. One time the author send me an article she’d written on a particular topic. Then I asked her questiions about it and how it fit into her books for the blog tour.

I may ask you for tips.

  3. Anne, don’t hesitate to ask if you have questions. Virtual book signings, or blog tours, are fun for the host as well as the person touring.
