Vista and 7 going strong while Windows XP dragged down

This should be really good news for Microsoft because for the longest time since the release of Windows Vista, XP has remained steadfast like a knight guarding it’s castle. Today, the shining armor has been pierced by it’s son Windows Vista and hopefully to be continued by Windows 7.
I have previously written an article about whether Microsoft should abandon Vista (Should Microsoft Leave Vista in the Dust?) which briefly says that XP is somehow declining, and another article questioning whether Microsoft should push Windows 7 in 2010 (Should Microsoft Push Windows 7 in 2010?) as Vista is moving forward while XP is no longer growing.
Web Analytics company Net Applications has released solid numbers that prove Windows XP’s decline. In the report, Windows XP usage has went down 1.1. percent in August. Even if Windows XP market share still account for 71.8 percent, the 1.1 decline is seldom seen by Microsoft since Vista was launched. Windows Vista usage is currently at 18.8 percent from it’s previous 17.9 percent score, while Windows 7 has already gained 1.2 percent market share. The number of Windows 7 is promising considering that it has not yet launched.
I think the numbers supports what I have seen with my colleagues who have mostly installed Windows 7 already on their machines. Most of these colleagues who are already using Windows 7 have actually skipped Windows Vista.
How about you? Are you still in Windows XP? Have you installed Windows 7 already and have skipped Windows Vista? Or have you transitioned from Windows XP to Windows Vista to Windows 7.
