A number of my friends had wake up problems after installing Windows Vista Service Pack. They experienced their PCs crashing when attempting to wake their computer from sleep mode.
This should not be a problem if you have not been using this feature; however for me, this is a big issue as I have been putting my laptop to sleep mode for the past 10 months or so.
This may be something you ought to consider when installing SP1.

I resolved my problem! Try to change power supply.
I did, terrific idea Alex ! I switched to “wireless power” in control panel under Blueteeth and now it sleeps all the time and what’s more, that stupid LED has stopped blinking too now.
if you have an hp comp. it is definite that updating the bios on it will work. that is the only reason that it will not go to sleep. the outdated bios. it might work for other comps but i know for a fact that all hp comps will sleep after a bios update.
I have a similar problem with a Dell Vostro 420 running Vista Ultimate SP1. Vista sometimes (about 90% of the time) can sleep, hybrid sleep, or hibernate, and sometimes it can’t. The problem is aggravated when using Virtual PC 2007. The system sometimes even doesn’t boot properly (takes too long in a buggy boot, and retards the system clock).
I have tried everything (change power settings, update system BIOS, etc. ). I tried to update the ATI drivers but the updater package just crashed and ruined the ATI catalyst control center. I had to do a system restore (that worked fine, thank God).
The only things that can be trusted are shutdown and wake up.
Perhaps, as Andrea said, it’s better to just give up. Vista is a nice OS, but this kind of things are plain irritating.
ksar, thankyou sir, that fixed it for me… i thought this stuff was supposed to update automatically?
