Want To Add Inches To Your Arms? Tri-This

triceps.jpgEvery man wants to add size to their arms but a lot of them don’t understand that while doing curls galore does build the bump up front, the triceps make up a great portion of your arm’s overall size. Here are a few exercises to help you build your triceps.

Close hand push ups- With your hands closer together than shoulder width apart, do a push up but don’t try to be Speedy Gonzalez about it. Even with push ups, form is important. If your triceps are not in tune with the rest of your arms or you are generally just beginning you will only be able to complete about half as many push-ups in this position and you’ll feel the burn rather quickly. You can also use a swiss ball to do push ups on but don’t use a close hand placement. Place them on the ball where you feel comfortable and the ball is stable. By using a swiss ball your triceps have to work hard to stabilize your wieght and this keeps for static resistance.

Skull Crushers- Lying on your back on a bench, using a curling barbell, point your arms straight up at the ceiling. Lower the bar while keeping your upper arms stationary and your elbows pointed up. Return the bar to the up position while keep true form. Use a comfortable weight that won’t have you going into failure on your last rep.

French Press- similar to skull crushers only you use dumbbells. However you will hold the dumbbells so that they are parallel to your body. Keep them shoulder width apart and do the exercise motion using the same form as the skull crusher.

Cable Push Downs- Using a T-bar or rope grip and having the cable pull down adjusted so that it is level with your elbows, hold the bar (or rope) so that your palms are facing down. Push the bar down so that your arms straighten out and return to the up position slowly. Once again, a comfortable weight. (Note: when using a rope, at the end of the push down turn your hands out so your palms will be facing the floor and flaring out the rope.

There are a slew of exercises you can do to build your triceps and these are just a few. Remember, form-form-form. Rest periods between workout days are important to give your muscles time to rest and if you over do it you will know the next day with pain in your elbows.

    Bench dips/Chair dips -
Using a chair or a bench sit on it and put your legs about 2 and a half feet away and thn slide your bottom of the bench/chair and then bend your elbows back, lowering yourself down once at a 90 degree angle with elbows hold and then lift back up again.
