When we think of media relations, we often think of traditional media. That’s good. But in today’s age, if you really want to create a pre-launch buzz, you should push your efforts to bloggers.
Bloggers have become so influential these days that some media campaigns can rely solely on blogs, without even turning to mainstream media outlets.
Why? Bloggers create a conversation with your target market, unlike traditional media which is a one-way push. By allowing your market to talk about your product even more, you create even more interest.
So how do you reach bloggers? The same way you reach a trafitional media reporter.
- Make sure the blogger you’re targeting is a good fit. Just because the blog is a top blog doesn’t mean they deal with your marketplace.
- Write a personalized pitch.
- Follow up, but don’t be a pest.

I’ve heard a lot of agencies and experts suggest you become an active participant on the blog for a certain amount of time before pitching them. Your info below doesn’t seem to suggest that. What are your thoughts on that idea? Worth it?
Bloggers are just as important to pre-launch buzz as a teaser video clip. Combine the two and it’s an unstoppable force. Many bloggers are combining Youtube video clips in their posts. I like the idea of sending teasers to bloggers, but i think that it might also limit their input on what they are being pitched. Nothing catches readers attention like am embedded video clip. If bloggers were sent commercials or product videos which they could tie into their post, I think that would increase readership and promote pre-launch buzz.
