Warm Things Up With Woodford Reserve

We’ve all seen the Woodford Reserve bottle staring us in the face as we decide what to order at our local watering hole. We contemplate ordering one straight up but remind ourselves that it’s the beginning of the night and things will get messy if we start it with Bourbon Whiskey. What we failed to ask ourselves is if Woodford Reserve could be mixed. And oh can it ever!
With the Holiday season upon us drinks that warm us up are ideal. Woodford has always been one of those Bourbon Whiskey’s you can drink on its own but also taste great in seasonal cocktails.
This year Woodford Reserve has released their Master’s Collection which has been seasoned with an oak finish. When I discovered this I got the shakes, because I love anything with oak , and I knew I had to spread the word.
I’m getting warmed up just looking at the bottle and I’m checking the clock to see if I can fit in a Woodford nooner.
But seriously, if you have a hot date beside a roaring fire this holiday season I suggest you invest in a bottle. Your lady friend may not be a fan of straight up whiskey so here are a few recipes that are sure to keep her cozy and snuggling up to you.
Woodford Hot Apple Pie
• 1 ¼ oz. Woodford Reserve Bourbon
• 6 oz. hot apple cider
• Fresh whipped cream, cinnamon stick, cinnamon, Granny Smith apple wedge
Mix Woodford Reserve and hot apple cider in a coffee mug (glass is preferable). Top with whipped cream (optional), add cinnamon stick and sprinkle with cinnamon. Garnish with apple wedge.
Add some sex(y) to your Woodford with the Pumpkin Pie Martini:
• 1 ¼ oz. Woodford Reserve Bourbon
• ¾ oz. pumpkin liqueur
• Splash of Amaretto
• Fresh whipped cream, nutmeg, pie crumbs, cinnamon stick
Combine Woodford Reserve, pumpkin liqueur and Amaretto in shaker filled with ice, shake and strain into chilled martini glass. Top with whipped cream, nutmeg and pie crumbs. Garnish with cinnamon stick.
Happy Holidays!
