cigarette_butt You never see that warning, do you? Well it’s true that quitting smoking greatly reduces your risk of cancer, emphysema, hearts disease etc., quitting can have it’s hazards as well. IN a short article published in August 2008 issue of Men’s Health Magazine it tell how the smoking cessation aid Bupropion, better known as Zyban can have side effects when working out or exercising.

HOT, HOTTER, HELP!

Cigarettes can kill, but what about smoking cessation drugs? A study on rats in the Journal Of Physiology suggests that Zyban can spike your risk of exercise induced heat stroke. Turns out, the drug’s active ingredient, Bupropion, overrides cell communication in an area of the brain that regulates body temperature. “It causes a release of feel-good brain chemicals that keep you exercising even when your core temperature hits dangerous levels,” says study coauthor Romain Meeusen, Ph.D. If You’re taking Zyban, ask your doctor about other drug options.
