US Internet radio webcasters observe a day of silence today, to protest the corrupt and exorbitant royalty structure that will kill the industry on July 15. The only exceptions are AOL and Clear Channel; apparently, they’re too “corporate” to show any solidarity with the community.
Internet radio helps customers dive down the Long Tail of music, helping the recording industry sell more music. Why the recording industry would burn its bridge to the future before crossing it eludes reason.
