WEC 40 Torres Vs Mizugaki Results. WEC 40 was on last night on Versus. There were some good fights and some early fight stoppages if you ask me. The first two fights were stopped a little too fast when it appeared that one of the fighters might be in trouble, even though they were defending themselves “Intelligently”.

Instead of Live-Blogging this last night I decided to sit back and enjoy it. It’s much better that trying to commentate it in text and watch at the same time.
Here are the official results for the main card.
- Raphael Assuncao Vs. Jameel Massouh: Raphael Assuncao wins by unanimous decision after 3 rounds.
- Ben Henderson Vs. Shane Roller : Ben Henderson by TKO by strikes at 1:41 in round 1. Shane Roller was a bit upset about this stoppage.
- Joseph Benavidez Vs. Jeff Curran: This was a great fight but it came down to a unanimous decision for Joseph Benavidez after 3 rounds.
- Miguel Torres Vs. Takeya Mizugaki (For the WEC Bantamweight title): This is the first time I have ever seen someone give Torres a run for his money. Mizugaki has an iron chin and has made a place for himself in the WEC. After 5 rounds of intense action there can only be one winner. The Judges score the fight 49-46, 49-46, 48-47. The unanimous decision goes to Miguel Angel Torres to retain his Bantamweight title.
Here is what happened on the preliminary card:
- Raphael Dias defeated Mike Budnik in a unanimous decision after 3 rounds. Budnik just can’t seem to get a break lately.
- Akitoshi Tamura defeated Manny Tapia by unanimous decision after 3 rounds.
- Rani Yahya defeated Eddie Wineland with a rear naked choke at 1:07 in round 1.
- Wagnney Fabiano defeated Fredson Paixao via unanimous decision after 3 rounds.
- Dominick Cruz defeated Ivan Lopez by unanimous decision after 3 rounds.
- Anthony Njokuani defeated Bart Palaszewski at 0:27 in round two. This fight was actually televised as a filler fight.
