Wow! If you saw this tonight then you’re probably saying the same thing.
The first 7 fights were not broadcast so unfortunately I don’t know the results for those fights.
The first fight with Rob McCullough Vs. Kenneth Alexander was a boring fight. A lot of round and round with some exchanging of punches and went to a decision after three rounds to Rob McCullough.
The second fight Mark Munoz, a big Philipino Vs. Chuck Grigsby, also a big fighter who had a good 6 inches on Munoz. This fight was more exciting. A lot of exchange of punches and ended on the ground with a knock out by Munoz. I think Grigsby was in bad shape after the fight.
The third fight, a bantam weight championship match had Miguel Torres Vs. Yoshiro Maeda. This fight was all out war. A lot of exchange of punches and ground submission attempts. At one point bot fighters had each other in simultaneous ankle locks with neither of them wanting to submit. This fight was scheduled for 5 rounds but was stopped before the 4th due to Maeda right eye swelled shut with possible injury. Miguel Torres retains his title.
Urijah Faber Vs. Jens Pulver was a highly anticipated feather weight fight. Jens Pulver came in his WEC Debut against Cub Swanson with a victory in the first round back in December and pretty much put the challenge on the table for Faber. Faber, the WEC feather weight champion has never gone more than two rounds with anyone in the WEC. A 12-1 fighter normally ends his fights in creative submissions in the first round. Normally a guillotine. Not this fight. Jens and Faber went all 5 rounds. In the second round I thought it was over. Pulver got rocked a few times and looked like he was going down. Somehow he regained his composure and continued the fight. A lot of exchange of punches went on and a lot of submission attempts were made on the ground as well as a lot of elbows thrown from Faber. Faber, being the incredible fighter that he is, showed it. With more explosiveness and more heavy connections, it was obvious that Faber was going to win if it went the full 5. By the end of the fourth round, Pulver right eye and the area around it was quite swollen and was obvious that it was bothering him. At the end of round five both fighters gave each other mutual respect. Faber by decision after 5 rounds and still WEC Feather Weight Champion.

We all knew Faber would win so why leave a comment?
I hear you, Tom. I kind of had this feeling he would. I was actually hoping that Pulver would win just because Faber’s gone unbeaten this long. It would have been nice to see someone new win that WEC title. I’m actually surprised to see it go as long as it did and it just proved to everyone out there that didn’t think Faber had any endurance, wrong. Faber has amazed me since the first time I saw him fight.
