Week 13 Fantasy Plays

Thanks to Jim and Kori for allowing me to revisit the old Squib Kick. Long time readers will remember that I once was the author here – but Jim was so much better at it than I was! :)

Regardless, if you’re a fantasy football player you might want to consider the following plays this week.

PLAY

  • Randy Moss: Randy Moss is the second most potent receiver in the league with 1095 yards and 14 of Tom Brady’s 39 Touchdowns this year. Although the Pats are playing the Ravens, the defense is less than legendary. Moss should be able to handily exploit injuries in the secondary.
  • Braylon Edwards: The Browns have been on a roll lately, and Edwards is faced with possibly his most lucrative matchup of the year against an Arizona secondary that has been decimated by injuries. The Cardinals will be playing without CB Eric Green and Strong Safety Adrian Wilson. The wildcard in this is Edwards’ hamstring which has kept him out of practice this week. However, the Browns do expect him to play on Sunday.
  • Jon Kitna: The last time the Lions and the Vikings played, Kitna had to leave the game. But not before throwing for nearly 250 yards and a touchdown. Expect the Lions to come into this game and own. Kitna should have no trouble stretching the field>li>

MAYBE

  • Reggie Wayne: Marvin Harrison won’t be playing again this week, so Wayne will once again be Peyton Manning’s “go to” guy. However, the Colts play a very tough division rival in Jacksonville and the RaShean Mathis matchup on Wayne could zero out the Wayne effect.
  • Marques Colston: Colston has had a great few weeks recently for the Saints. However, matching up against the Bucs’ Ronde Barber is a wildcard that we don’t know yet.
  • Adrian Peterson: The wild man from Minnesota will probably play this week but he will probably be splitting his time with Chester Taylor. On the flip side, he may not play at all. It wouldn’t take much to accumulate lots of points. It also wouldn’t take much to not get any. Proceed with caution.

SIT

  • Jay Cutler: Don’t let Denver’s recent success fool you. They are going into Oakland to face the league’s 4th best pass defense. I don’t expect Cutler to see much success, and indeed could lose points on sacks.
  • Rex Grossman: Sexy Rexy is a hit or miss any week, but this week against the Giants is a definite miss. The Giants defense is a strong pass defense and the WR matchups will prevent Rex from having much success downfield.
  • Baltimore Defense: These guys may have been the best once, but not anymore. And certainly not against the buzzsaw offense in New England. Take my advice: don’t even try.
