Weekend Link Love

SparkPeople.com has a great piece on the public’s hypocrisy in judging stars’ weight. Too skinny? We are all over them, if they gain some weight? It’s front page mews. Up your mind, folks.
Exposing more hypocrisy is The Deceiver, with their peice on Dove (famous for those real women campaigns) who’s parent company sells skin bleach. Not hair bleach, like for pesky mustaches, but bleach for your skin. Isn’t Dove’s slogan “Love the skin you’re in?”
Rueter’s reports that 1/3 of all heart attacks are caused by junk food. Of course we all know eating fatty foods increase your risk, but a third? Shocking.
This is a little dated, but after the Faith Hill on Shape Magazine Scandal of 2008, its been brought up many times. AND I finally found a picture. Victoria’s Secret model Karolina Kurkova has been criticized by the Brazillian fashion industry for being too curvy. The same Brazillian fashion industry that was up in arms after the death of anorexic model, Frankly, I want to see a little cellulite on my underwear models, so I know what it’ll look like on me. (PS. Where’s her belly button?) See photo here, courtesy of The Huffington Post, and judge for yourself.
The Great Fitness Experiment exposes what I have noticed more and more as time goes on, The Biggest Loser suggesting classic eating disorder behaviors to lose weight. While Jillian Micheal’s comment on destroying her food is what most people are talking about, I’ve also heard contestants being instructed to chew gum or chug water when they are hungry, the anorexic girls go-to trick to faux-fill her belly, and keep her mouth occupied.

Very interesting article links – I pray for the day to come when our society has a healthy view of weight/body image.
Umm – this totally has nothing to do with this post, but… HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! :-)
It’s your birthday!!!
Hope you have a fabulous day!
Happy Birthday!!! :D
Just read that it’s your birthday, so…happy birthday!
And yeah, I don’t like The Biggest Loser. However, I am ALL ABOUT free samples, so thanks.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Kelly! I hope you had a great day:) Thanks for the link love (glad I’m not the only person completely freaked out by that show!).
