Welcome back Cito Gaston

June 20, 2008 by Tony Baldwin

Well, ESPN’s Baseball Tonight crew and Peter Gammons had it right, John Gibbons is the latest manager to be fired. The Toronto Blue Jays weren’t happy with Gibbons and he became the third manager to get sent packing this week. But the best part is who the Blue Jays are brining back. That’s right. CITO GASTON!

Gaston becomes the first two-time manager for Toronto. The Blue Jays made four postseason appearances under Gaston, including a pair of American League East titles in 1989 and 1991.

Now it’s time for Blue Jays fans to go crazy! Maybe Toronto will even bring Joe Carter back to be Gaston’s assistant. Ah, what a great day to be Jays fan.

The laid-back but firm mangement style of Cito, a man who is a winner, is just what these young guys need. Cito is also a manager who knows that players must be allowed to play to their talents, and no be so micro-managed that it kills their natural talent.
Welcome back Cito! You have been away too long.

Denvil – I agree! Cito has been gone too long. He’s always been a player-favorite. I hope he gets the Blue Jays going in the right direction.
