What’s your desktop like?

Solid Snake rests solidly on my desktop

I believe that viewing one’s desktop gives us a peek at one’s personality. How? It’s similar to that TV show I was watching where two people set out to examine a mystery person’s house and belongings, then proceeds to deducing facts about said mystery person.

Well, seeing one’s desktop won’t necessarily glean the individual’s darkest secrets but it would certainly give you a clue as to his or her line of work, interests, and perhaps to a certain degree—even behavior.

I want to do a little experiment by starting an Internet meme. This time, instead of asking the usual five to seven different things, I’d like to focus on desktops.

I show my desktop, you show me yours.

To make things more interesting, we later deduce facets of an individual’s personality (i.e. interests, likes, maybe even dislikes.) and confirm if said deductions are correct or not. Since I’m the instigator of this meme, I can’t make any deductions yet. When do we start deducing? When the people I’ve tagged have started responding.

To spread this meme, one just needs to tag seven people, like so.

Amy at Ironic Gamer
Erin at Play-Girlz
Nadia at PlayStation Monger
Joel at MMOtaku
Amber at The Adventuress
Angelo at WoW Obsessed
Kevin at Games Industry Wire

Of course, the bloggers I’ve tagged should look for seven other people to tag. All the people that get tagged would also look for seven more to tag. Got it?

  1. Thats a nice wallpaper you’ve got there. My notebooks resolution is 1280 x 800 which adds borders to all of the 720p screenshots that I could use.

This was the last screenshot that I took of my desktop:

Currently I have an Ikaruga desktop

Thank you, Daniel. :) Hey, nice desktop! Looks really clean and organized. Love your Otacon watch, mate. Where did you get that, by the way?

Whoa, Ikaruga? Great game. It’s one of the more unique side-scrollers out there.

Say, I noticed that you use Opera. Nice. :) You may notice that my desktop isn’t that complete since it doesn’t show my system tray and quick launch.

I use Opera too (aside from Firefox Mozilla). Nice to see a fellow user!

  3. I love the widget as well. I found it a few months ago but I only just blogged about it recently. You can find it here:

I couldn’t get it to load on start up so I went back to the default clock but it is still a neat little widget. You might have some better luck with it.

I swear by Opera, unlike IE and FF it actually renders websites correctly (thats a fact too). The whole email, RSS, notes, customization, voice, everything makes it such an excellent experience.

Thanks for the link! What good is a Solid Snake desktop without an Otacon widget? That should make my screen complete. ;)

I’m thinking of getting Opera again, now that you’ve mentioned it.
