What Are Your Green Resolutions This Year?

January 5, 2008 by Ali

I’m not such a fanatic about New Year’s Resolutions because change is an ongoing process. I do have a standing resolution that I don’t want to wake up and start the year with a hangover, I’ve fulfilled that one for quite some time.

However, if I was put on the spot to give you one I’d say that my resolution this year is to do more of what I do and to do it better, like more of this and this and this and so on and so on. All of my hopes this year have a little to do with this and this. I say hopes with a cheerful optimism because 2007 proved to be a monumental year for the environment and in many ways it looks to just get better.

There are so many ways to go green at home and work, simple steps to make progress include ideas and actions that have sustainability in mind. Like using less paper by printing only when necessary, saving energy by powering down and avoiding phantom loads, biking or walking to work, taking the train, the list is endless.

Still, there is something about a New Year’s Resolution that makes us all listen up. It’s a call to action, a goal, a path. Even if it doesn’t go as planned it’s better to at least give it a go. So I want to know what readers are thinking. What are your green goals for your business or work this year? I want to know! Leave a comment and share your vision of green for the coming year!

Happy New Year!

I am not sure what my resolution is for this year, but I was motivated yesterday watching Oprah. She did a show about going green. Did you see it by chance. It was excellent. You may want to take a look at her website. There was great information shared by her guest. Any way, I will say that I am pondering some options given yesterday and I will visit again when I know where I land.

    Have fun writing your blog!

I didn’t see the show but I did check out what she did online. It looked great. I was happy to see Oprah spreading the word about easy green steps because her show reaches so many people. Thanks for letting me know about it!

I’m a fan of resolutions, goal setting, planning, to-do lists and anything that involves preparations and thinking of the future.

This year I intend to accomplish this project on making my office paperless and cut on caffeine intake.

Alfa, hooray for paperless office, that is a great resolution! I’m all about goal setting, to-do lists and planning too, I just like to do it throughout the year I think. I could probably resolve to cut back on the caffeine too though now that you mention it. Thanks for stopping by!

I’m planning on buying more organic and local produce this year, cutting back on red meat, and buying less packages foods. This weekend I kept my resolution and bought all my groceries at the farmers market. Not a single boxed or canned food :)

Chad, I was just now writing down the same ideas about food. Food is my biggest challenge where I live in Germany. For one thing, meat is such a big part of the diet that I find myself eating way more than I want to. Way to go on getting 2008 off to a good start! I’m going to try to get on board right behind you!
