What do you want to read on Slacker Manager?

Good day friends!
This is the first post I’m making without my friend and co-author David Zinger by my side. It leaves me to wonder “What’s next?” for Slacker Manager.
I’ve got a lot of ideas about what I’m going to write about, and you’ll usually see articles from me Monday through Friday, with a guest post or two here and there, as well as an occasional weekend article.
But the key to being a successful slacker (meaning to only do what is absolutely necessary and delegate the rest) is to ask folks what they want, and then deliver it.
So I ask you, generous reader, to contribute to this community by answering one simple question:
What do YOU want to read on Slacker Manager?
Here’s a few things I plan to share, and if I couple that with your feedback, I think we can take Slacker Manager to the next level.
- Slacker Book Reviews – I read a lot of books, so I’ll share my thoughts on them here
- Management by Quotation – I love quotes, and they often sum up a key management point more succinctly than I can in a whole article
- Slacker Interviews – I’ve got a few awesome people I’ve interviewed that I’ve been saving to share with you so you can get to know more insightful people that can help you think about management in a different way.
- Saturday Six Pack – 6 of the best articles I found for the week, with my commentary on them, typically posted on Saturday
- Management ABCs – The basics of management, for all those looking for a place to start their management journey (or to find out if it’s something they event want to get involved in)
- Friday Fun Day – My team has a lot of FUN, so I’ll share how we have fun AND get the job done.
- Guest posts – @Stephen will continue to share posts a few times a month, as will Troy Worman and David Zinger. If you want to share your insights, please e-mail me (phil.gerbyshak@b5media.com) and I will review your work and potentially publish you here on Slacker Manager.
That’s all I have planned for now. I want to give you more of what you want, and less of what you don’t, so please share your feedback in the comments below.

How about a section like “getting there”? Here can be areas for advancements such as from staff to management to leadership. Also the how tos in managing and leadership. Input (guidance) from upper management and leadership professionals in terms of interviews or writings (such as Jack Welch come to mind).
This site used to have a clear vision, sadly now it seems to have lost the way. The clue is in the site’s name “Slacker Manager” – it should be about doing more with less effort at work. Simple as that. A lot of articles I see have nothing to do with that, and the quality of the articles varies too much.
CK – Good suggestions. I like the idea on the “how to” of management, and plan to tackle that with the management abcs topic. Advancement is another solid idea. Thanks for sharing it!
scoobie – Thank you for sharing your perspective. I’m curious if you’d care to elaborate for me on your points, so I can try to help meet your expectations. To be honest, I’ve focused on the “manager” part of the blog more than the “slacker” part, for that’s my area of specialty. I’d love to hear your ideas on how I can do more slacking and less managing. Do you have articles you can point to that have exhibited what you mean?
Also, you mention the quality of the articles varies too much. Question for you: Less articles with more meat, more articles with more meat, or what do you like or dislike?
If you feel like sharing more, please do. If not, I still appreciate your caring enough to share.
Phil
I think your plans generally look good. In true slacker style I like the idea of quotes and guest writers in particular.
If you have any control over this, you might like to make your archives easy to access and search/scroll thru – or maybe its just me being a bit I.T. illiterate.
I’d like to see more articles on dealing with office politics as well as managing up.
