What Drives You When Your Work out?

When I work out I always feel it helps a bit to have some kind of motivation besides a pre-workout supplement. I need music. Not just any music. My preference is Heavy Metal (Shameless Blog plug Metalmartyr.com). Sometimes when I workout and I have a lot on my mind – I lose focus. If I’m angry thats even worse. I think that most people would use that to their advantage when working out. Taking aggression out on the weights. I’m just the opposite. Anger and worries make me lose focus and it’s hard for me to keep going. However when focused and everything is in my court I don’t want to be bothered until I’m finished, whether it’s 30 minutes or an hour and a half. Now Back to the music.
Music plays a big driving force in just about everyones workout. Most of the time I have my Ipod Shuffle on when I work out. There are disadvantages to the shuffle though. I like it heavy and loud when I work out, but I listen to a lot of music and not just metal. On my iPod I have some fairly mellow songs that can slow things down for me. One minute I’ll be benching my max hearing Hatebreed’s Destroy Everything on the ear buds and that ends and It goes into Foreigner’s I want to know what love is. Kinda throws me off.
Some people like Hip-Hop, some people like country and some people actually like slower music when they work out. I guess it all really depends what gets you in the mood like everything else.
Some of my favorite Cd’s to work out to?
Hatebreed – Supremacy
Metallica – Master Of Puppets
Pantera – Best Of
Lamb Of God – Ashes Of The Wake
All That Remains – Fall Of Ideals
These are just a few of mine. So…what drive your workout?

I agree, you can’t go wrong with heavy metal. Here’s a sample of whats on my iPod Nano
Deftones
Rage Against the Machine
Rammstein
System of a Down
Tool
Sounds like a good mix, Tony!
