My life plans changed too.

I remember wanting to be a Veterinarian. I realized, while in Junior High School, that I was too lazy to go through the multitude of years of college I found it would take. I settled for a Horse Science degree and worked as a breeder, trainer, showmen, caregiver, fill-in Vet Tech, etc.

But the hubby broke his back so I went back to college and became schooled in Journalism.

Not sure why I thought I was not going to put many years of college in my life… silly me.

Then divorce disrupted my life, for the better albeit.

Now that I find something else I’m pretty good at – playing with words – I find the hours don’t work with being a single mom minded lady. So I write part-time, still hoping to land an 8-5ish job where I play with words, because as much as I'd like to do a job that fits all of my own needs... I am ever mindful that I made a promise to God and my kids... 'Take care of them' and sometimes that has meant that I have needed and will continue to need to re-focus and see my dreams in a different light.

YIKES. Learning to punt, I wonder if I learned that from my mom or my dad. Dad, maybe. More importantly, I hope I am able to pass that lesson on to both my son and my daughters.

I wanted to be a therapist of all things. I was a good listener with decent advice and was interested in psychology, so I figured I would go towards that. That later evolved into social worker and then advice columnist.

Life has taught me that I need to learn to take my own advice before I should try giving advice.

And I'm much happier as a writer. ;)
