What is ChipMeUp?

While researching for today’s blog entry, I found a website with a pretty cool idea if gambling yourself isn’t enough for you and you feel the need to stake bets on other poker player’s ability. The site is ChipMeUp.com and the idea behind it is poker players can raise capital for tournaments they will play in and investors get a reciprocal piece of their earnings for however much their winnings are.
It doesn’t look there is any restrictions on what tournaments your horses can play in and of course you can track your players you are invested in and easily view their results. This gives you the ability to get in the action on poker tournaments you could otherwise not enter into because of finances or location.
I love this idea. It’s an efficient and cool way to bet on the different poker players out there, but I would never put my money on a poker to win an individual tournament. Poker is to whacky. On any given day, anybody can win (see: Jerry Yang, Chris Moneymaker). I mean you may as well guess as to who will win any tournament over 100 players with. I take that back, there are some players that play so bad they wouldn’t win even with luck, but you understand the point.
