What My Neighbours Are Saying – the b5media Business Channel

I’ve been posting to CommonSense PR for a few months now, and I haven’t really introduced my neighbours – the other b5 Business Channel bloggers.

To make up for that, let’s take a quick tour of some recent posts.

Ron Elizondo writes on Brand Curve about differentiation, a concept that scares some managers because of the uncertainly involved. The human brain sees what is different, filtering out the ordinary. If your company and its products don’t stand out, you’ll never thrive.
Copyblogger Brian Clark offers some great advice for making your website Google-friendly. Build your site around cornerstone content that is relevant and useful on the topics you want to be searched for. This kind of content is often called Evergreen, because it stands the test of time. Make regular reference to your cornerstone posts, or pages.

Mary Emma Allen offers tips on running a home-based business on Home Biz Notes, including keeping a To-do list (something that my wife used to good effect during her years as a writer), and preparing for natural disasters. Last week she hosted a series of posts by b5 business bloggers on the theme Goals for 2007.

Writing in a network of other business blogs is what attracted me to b5media. There’s real potential for this group to share readers across the business channel. People who are interested in one aspect of business are probably interested in other aspects.

I attract readers who are interested in public relations, but I also want to reach managers, marketers, lawyers and folks in customer service who don’t necessarily know the nuances of the communications field, and want to know more.

I’ll continue to feature the other b5 business bloggers, to give you a sense of what my neighbours are up to. Don’t wait for me to highlight all of them, though. You can find all b5 blogs linked in the right margin, listed by channel. The business bloggers are grouped together. If you like what I write about, you should check them out too.

  1. *waves* :-D

Picture was by Darren btw ;-)

  2. Ike says:

Oh Eric, you know full well who took that picture. Nice way to sneak in a couple of links! (Maybe Brian Clark ought to take a lesson from you!)

    ;)

  3. Actually, I knew Darren had posted the photo to the internal b5 forum, but he never said that he took the picture (until this morning, when he accepted credit/blame).

But if that confusion presented the opportunity to link to a couple of the higher-traffic b5 sites, who am I to hold back my link love?

  4. Ike says:

    That’s the spirit! b5-group hug!

  5. Lee Hopkins says:

Eric, any chance you could ask the b5 folks if they’d be interested in an aussie flavour/flavor to their blogroll?
