What the Heck is Going on With Aerosmith?

First there’s been all of these reports, from reputable sources like Billboard, that claim lead singer, Steven Tyler, has decided to leave Aerosmith after what seems like a million years of togetherness. They quote guitarist, Joe Perry, as saying that the band is “positively looking for a new singer to work with.”
Really?
Okay, first of all, this isn’t like a drummer or something that people may or may not notice has been replaced. This is Steve freaking Tyler. He IS Aerosmith to a lot of people and I just feel like he’s irreplaceable. It doesn’t make sense to me that they would look for someone else. If Steve goes, respect your music, fans and legacy enough to shut down the band. I promise that I won’t pay money to hear someone else sing “Love in an Elevator” and I’m sure I’m not alone.
Everything hit the fan after rumors surfaced about the lack of communication in the band. People were saying that Tyler had hired his own manager and was planning to focus on a solo career at the age of 61. Perry said that Tyler hung up on him when he tried calling him recently.
Now, it’s being reported, again by Billboard, the Steven Tyler ISN’T LEAVING THE BAND. What?!?!? I swear, for a group of middle-aged men, it’s amazing how much they sound like teenage girls.
Tyler reaffirmed his position as the lead singer in true rock star form – he got on stage, sang “Walk This Way” and then said the following to Perry: “I am not leaving Aerosmith. You are a man of many colors, but I am the motherf–king rainbow!” Owned.
Welcome back, Mr. Tyler.
