What Was Bill Belichick Thinking?

Bill Belichick is one of the best coaches in NFL history. He’s turned the New England Patriots into a dynasty. But on Sunday night, Belichick made one of the worst coaching decisions you will ever see in any sport.

With the Patriots up by six points against the Indianapolis Colts with about two minutes remaining, New England faced a 4th down and two inside their own 30 yard line. Instead of punting the ball and forcing Peyton Manning and company to march down the field needing a touchdown, Belichick decided to go for it.

After the Patriots came up short on the 4th down play, Manning and the Colts easily scored and took the lead. Getting the ball back with just seconds remaining, the Patriots were unable to score and lost 35-34.

The loss kept the Colts perfect at 9-0. The loss dropped the Patriots to 6-3 and now Bill Belichick will have one serious question to answer: What were you thinking?

Not sure what he was thinking, but I’m sure glad he decided to go with that play. I think the Colts still could have pulled it up, but it definitely would have been even more of a nail biter.
