What’s In Your Office (Or On Your Desk)?

Every now and again I run a what’s on your desk post, where I share what’s on mine and invite you to do the same… only now I have a whole office. It’s a mess, but I love it. So here’s what’s in my office:

  • Two windows facing south… I love it.
  • A computer hutch belonging to someone else… he has until the end of the week ;)
  • A door!
  • A new desk from Ikea that lets me stand while I work.
  • My printer is on the floor.
  • My basket of goodies… you know, the stapler, the stables, the camera, the food roller, the wooden kazoo… all that stuff… is on the floor.
  • My cpu
  • Yards and yards of cable I haven’t sorted out are on the floor
  • File cabinet, with the drawers facing the wall (!)
  • A heater on the top of the file cabinet
  • The clean, big cat litter box that’s too big to fit
  • And on the desk?

  • The keyboard
  • The monitor
  • An empty cup of coffee
  • My mouse
  • My speakers
  • A 3×5 card with my new address and phone number
  • The usual cloth frog, who was upside down until I noticed him just now.
  • The phone.
  • A cup of pens and rubber bands
  • My phone book
  • My receipt boxes
  • A dictionary
  • A library book

Well, my office is in the bedroom because there is no where else in the house. So normal bedroom stuff plus 3 bookcases, mission style arm chair, desk, desk chair, printer, etc… Also window looking out on my guest who was back today. You can see him at http://michaelcarnell.palmettobug.com/2008/01/13/my-home-office-has-a-thief/

On my desk: iBook laptop, speakers, mouse, leather bound journal, mug of Diet Coke, some business receipts and business cards, and the papers for my tax return that I need to work on.

      All very boring stuff… :(

At present, I have two laptops on my desk- one which sits underneath a shelf (nonfunctional from having tipped over a bottle of water; and the other, new and thus far functional from which I am currently typing. I too have a desk from Ikea, though not one which allows me to work standing up- but it does have a side shelf (=
      – a pad of paper with pencil on top (no eraser)
      – back scratcher
      – basket of goodies (misc candy, post-its, tape, a mirror, and a coupon for some online computer store)
      – hair band
      – some businesses cards
      – an empty bowl of cereal
      – ear plugs (quite possibly my favorite item next to scotch tape)

My printer is on my side shelf along with
      – a DVD burner
      – a (also Ikea purchased) desk light
      – an over-flowing, turn-table style pen/ paper clip cup (it likes like a flower from the top)

Unfortunately for me, I have no windows in my office. I do, however, face a television and two posters (one world map, one Human Genome Landmarks [?!?] )

Michael, I see your guest… I heard a new bird sound this morning… not a dove, or maybe a dove, but calling in a way I didn’t recognize…

Rena, what did we do before Ikea?
