Over in our forum, someone started a thread asking What’s Your Dream Writing Job?
It’s a great question. My current dream job would be a best selling book or two that would result in significant royalties, or some other project that creates residual income.
So… what’s your dream writing job?

Great question Anne!
I have three dream writing jobs. I’m living two of them, but on the small scale. The only change I’m pursuing is making these happen on a larger scale.
1) Writing a book (or several books) I love, and being paid to go around talking about the topic. (Bringing my kids with me.)
2) Editing/personal writing coach for hire. I would love to spend more time doing this. The projects I’ve done so far have been challenging, but hugely rewarding. I could easily do this work as a full-time job if I didn’t love to write and talk so much.
3) Being paid to have conversations on message boards, blogs, elists, etc. Not to have conversations about specific things (i.e. a product), but to be paid to just keep a board hoppin’. Create buzz. Get people going. That kind of thing. Although, this is one of those things that sounds really good in my head (since I do this for free anyway), but may lose its luster if I was required to do it to get paid.
Thanks again for asking a great question!
I’ve often thought about what my “ideal” job would be, and I think there are a couple of things I would like.
–Writing the Great UnAmerican Novel.
–Writing a great Remix/Rewrite. I love to take old classic stories and putting a new spin on them. I’ve been working on an old piece of Italian literature for a long time now.
–Poetry. In college, a group of folks came to our school and performed a series of their poems for us. Some were funny, others were touching, a few were empowering. I think that’d be great, traveling the country and sharing poems.
