When A Writing Client Doesn’t Respond

Much of my writing is, as most of you know, ghostwriting. That means, among other things, I write, send it to the client and wait for their response. At the moment I’m waiting for a client to get back to me.

Last I heard, which was last week, he expected to get several chapters edited and back to me within the week – it hasn’t happened yet. I’ve send everything and the next move is up to him. I’ve emailed and asked when I can expect the chapters back and haven’t heard yet.

It’s a bit odd because he was, at one point, in a real hurry to get this book done. Early this month I said we could be finished by the end of January, but that’s no longer true. Oh I guess if I got everything today, we’d come close, but at the moment I’m in the dark.

Over time I’ve found that finishing a project isn’t’ always easy for clients. I’m not sure what actually happens, but more than once, as we’ve approached the end, the client has slowed way down, and, in some cases, even stopped.

If I don’t hear today, I’ll call tomorrow and see what I can find out. Meanwhile, I do have other work. But darn, I’d like to get this one finished.
