When Evil Empires Collide

Our New England-based feelings about the New York Yankees are, perhaps, the worst-kept secret on the blog. Why, just yesterday we managed to reference them (courtesy of the handy “strikethrough” feature) as the Evil Empire.

And now, thanks to LeBron James’s Nike gig, we face a metaphysical sports question: What happens when evil empires (i.e., the Yankees and Nike) collide?

It seems Cleveland-based James figures if he can make it there, he can make it anywhere, including New York City. The Cavaliers‘ forward, whose vote-getting for the All-Star team isn’t too shabby, teamed with Nike to create sneakers with a Yankees-centric—do you know how much it pains us to type that?—theme.

Put us down for a pair. We need something to wear just in case we ever get that call back for the show “Dirty Jobs”–you know, the one where you get realllly filthy cleaning sewers, pig slop, and the like.
