When I Grow Up: A Business Channel Contest

April 24 is Take Your Sons and Daughters to Work Day. In honor of that, the Business Channel here at b5media is hosting a “when I grow up” comment contest!
At stake is a $25 gift card for Barnes and Noble, so this is definitely a contest you want to win!
All you have to do to win is leave a comment on this post telling me what you, as a child “wanted to be when you grew up.”
(And hey, if you’re still growing up, that’s ok too! This contest is open to people who haven’t reached their goals yet, as well as children.) Tell me all about your dreams! How have they changed over the years? Who helped you along the way? What influenced your choices the most?
You have until April 20 to enter! Our wonderful channel editor, Kelly, will be picking her favorite 10 comments from across the channel and readers will vote on their favorites, so leave the best comment you possibly can!

The official rules (because I have to post ‘em):
1. Comments must be posted between 12:01 am EST on April 1 and 11:59pm EST on April 20.
2. You must include your full name and your email address in the correct field with your comment. We won’t publish your email address but we do need contact information for the winning entry. We respect your privacy, and we will not send you anything unrelated to your entry in this contest.
3. You can enter the contest as many times as you’d like, as long as each comment is unique.
4. By entering the contest, you agree that b5media may post any part or all of your comment, including your name, as a part of the contest announcements or promotions, with the exception of your email address.
5. By entering the contest, you agree that all works submitted on your behalf are original and belong to you or you declare that you have the right to submit those works. You may not submit ideas that are not your own or that you do not have permission to submit.
6. All decisions related to finalists are in the sole discretion of the judge and are final.

I wanted to be a doctor. Even got myself a Pre-Med degree, and halfway through discovered how much modern medicine looks like politics, and how much I loved the arts instead. So now, am paying off a Pre-Med degree and doing stand-up comedy!
I wanted to be a writer.
Because of technology, I can do that. I have a blog for personal use. One for work. I twitter. I write frequently at work. Sure, it’s not the great American novel like I planned, but doing what I love is great.
I wanted to be a couple of things when I grew up, so I had it planned that I would be a lawyer during the day and a lounge singer in the evenings.
What am I now?
A stay-at-home mom and a freelance writer, but I wouldn’t change it for anything in the world.
