When March Madness Meets Pink and Purple

The time has come, ladies and gentlemen, to put my fellow March Madness pool bloggers in their respective places. We wanted to play nice, but clearly, these guys prefer trash-talking over patty cake. So let the games begin.

It all started the other day with The Play in CA.  We responded to this and thought, OK, maybe it was an anomaly; maybe they just don’t like pink and purple. Maybe the Play in CA was all high and mighty due to their proximity to UCLA.

But no, that was just the start.

The Play in CA kicked things off and now everybody wants to get into the act. Meet Apples and Moustache, our very own Johnny-Come-Lately. The good news is, they properly acknowledged the inherent superiority of a Boston fan. The bad news is, they dissed yours truly for being a chick. Hey, there are roots here, baby. This blonde is 100% bottle, and that alone should boost my street cred a few points.  Besides, does a blog name like that sound sports-savvy? Or does it invoke images of Yosemite Sam enjoying a mid-afternoon snack while strolling through an orchard? We thought so.

Bears Necessity scored some points with us: first, for adding us to the blogroll —which we’ll do for everyone, too—and for saying this bloggerette was kinda cute. (We could take issue with the “kinda” part mitigating the cute, but we’ll let it slide). Again, our New England Greatness was acknowledged. But Bears Necessity broke our hearts by making fun of the pink and purple template. WHICH. WE. DID. NOT. PICK.

The Sports Lounge gets a gold star for seeing past the pink and purple and properly identifying us as a force to be reckoned with. (Even if we do get heartburn about things like ending a sentence with a preposition). This guy knows his stuff, though, so the flattery might be a calm before the storm type of thing.

The Battle of CA has tread lightly so far, but with a militant name like that, we’re bracing ourselves. He’s impressed (ahem, rightly so) with the expansive coverage of this blog. But is The Battle of CA trying to lull us into complacency? Time will tell.

Today’s the day the shakedown begins. When the tournament starts we can track the pool stats in real time, so check back (a) to read more trash-talking and (b) to see how much whining/bragging we do depending on how our teams do.
