When Series Go Wrong
With all this discussion of innovation and sidekick-dom, it only seems natural to point you towards an excellent (in a sad, nostalgic kind of way) piece up over at Games Radar. Author Christian Nutt takes a painful trip down memory lane to look at the “Top 7 Series Run Into the Ground“.
I do have to warn you of the graphic nature of the game descriptions. Some of us are bound to find favourites on this list, gouging at our very gaming hearts and making us weep for the days when these franchises were strong and playable. Oh Tomb Raider…whyyyy?
Money makes the world go ’round, and it also makes games come out that should never see the light of day. Trying to milk a successful series out of every last drop of credibility is an all too common affair. The worst offenders, according to this article, were:
- Sonic the Hedgehog
- Spy Hunter
- Tenchu
