Which OS is right for you?

You thinking of getting a new system or just want to start anew with your old one and one question is bothering you: Which OS should i use? Windows? XP or Vista? Linux? Which distribution? or , heavens forbid, should you switch to OS X?

Once, you were either a Mac person or a Windows user. Or maybe you were a Unix geek. Whichever your poison, you likely had only one operating system in your life. Thanks to the ubiquity of the Intel processor and the hard work of untold legions of software developers, however, those days are over. Now, Apple’s machines can run Windows XP. Windows Vista is available on brand-new computers, but you can also boot the same PC with an Ubuntu Linux disc that you downloaded and burned for free. And if you like Ubuntu, you can install it alongside Windows in a few clicks.

This time of choice is definitely pretty exciting. Never before have this many options been viable.

It’s kind of funny to watch this happen to Microsoft, after they’ve trampled on so many people. A lot of bloggers seem to be counting them out. I can’t say I disagree.

Linux is practically the safest, fastest, and the most technologically advanced OS in the planet. It supports SPARC, x86, PowerPC, Alpha, and a lot of embedded devices such as phones. Viruses!? yeah right. Your default privilage on linux is too weak to have any viruses installed as root (admin). OS X? its based on freeBSD but why use $800 + on an apple computer if you can buy an IBM compatible one with linux in it? Hardware support? it could support 200 + printers, scanners, videocams, and soundcards by just plugging it in…as in no driver cds needed.. :D So long story short, i use linux for my daily studies and im proud of it!
