While We Were Blogging, the Game Changed

Two years ago, Shel Israel and Robert Scoble sent to their publishers the manuscript of their book, Naked Conversations: How Blogs are Changing the Way Businesses Talk with Customers.

What fascinated me at the time was that the book was written in the open, so to speak, and interactively with readers of the Naked Conversations blog, which these days is titled Global Neighbourhoods. Chapters were offered for review, critique and revision by readers.

In his post Naked Conversations Age 2, Shel revisits an observation in the book about possible changes in the coming twenty years and comments:

We went on to talk about the promise of RSS and something just starting up called podcasting, and we speculated that something called “tagging” showed promise. Forget the 20 years. We were pretty clueless about FaceBook and YouTube and online video and Twitter and so many things that have exploded on the internet in the past 24 months.

Check the post for Shel’s bullet points on what changed while we were blogging away for the past couple of years.

Happy Birthday Naked Conversations!

I think this trend is going to continue. I would have never EVER thought that I’d be wasting time with something like Twitter (and in a few months I probably won’t be) but the one constant on the web is change…that’s what keeps it interesting.
