White Sox Finally Get Jake Peavy

In May, Jake Peavy blocked a trade that would have sent him from the San Diego Padres to the Chicago White Sox. This time when the White Sox came calling, Peavy decided the timing was right and agreed to the deal.
The former Cy Young Award winner will give the White Sox one of the best starting pitchers in baseball. This season, the 28-year-old from Alabama is 6-6 with a 3.97 ERA. He also has 92 strikeouts and a 1.19 WHIP in 81.2 innings.
Currently, Peavy is on the disabled list with an ankle injury. The White Sox believe that he’ll be able to return to the mound late in the month of August. Considering they’ve waited since May to add him to the roster, this wait isn’t too bad.
In return, the Padres got four pitching prospects: Clayton Richard, Aaron Poreda, Adama Russell and Dexter Carter. Richard and Poreda have pitched in the big leagues this year while Russell and Carter have been in the minors.
Currently, the White Sox are 1.5 games back in the AL Central behind the Detroit Tigers. They lead the Minnesota Twins by 1.5 games.
