Hmm..I am very suspicious of the validity of the claims proffered by Mr. Tom Kellermann. To me it seems nothing more than towing the party line – the whole scare mongering “al Queda is out to get us” line.
No doubt dubious individuals use alternative payment systems like e-gold and whatnot, but let’s not forget about credit card fraud, wire fraud, stored value fraud (like diamonds, precious metals) etc. A lot more fraud occurs in the so called “legitimate” finance arena than people know about or would care to admit.
I am strong doubt that al-Queda is out to get my e-gold account. It is far more likely that your DGC account will be broken into by some poor hacker in a country that is being excluded from the “mainstream financial system” than any “terrorist” or anything of that extreme.
If anything, payments systems like e-gold and the rest serve to help the disadvantaged people of this world who do not receive one thousand credit card applications in their mailbox every day. Now the “powers that be” are going to attempt to link free market money systems such as e-gold to terrorism and other specters of the modern police state than they seriously need to put something in their pipe and smoke it, because they are just trying to blow smoke at you – don’t fall for it!
