Who is Raj Bhavsar?

When Paul Hamm announced earlier in the week that he wouldn’t be able to compete in the Beijing Games due to a wrist injury, US men’s gymnastic team alternate, Raj Bhavsar joined the team. But, who is this new man on the Olympic team?

Actually, he’s not that new. Bhavsar, a Houston native, was part of two Olympic Silver Medal teams and served as an alternate for the Athens Games, a disappointment that almost caused him to give up the sport. The 27-year-old Bhavsar’s best event is the rings.
