Who Trusts You?

When I was in the Navy, we had a saying: In God we trust…all others we monitor. It made sense to me then that many of the folks I worked with didn’t trust me, or each other, or maybe even themselves.
Then I read a note about a new quiz by the folks with Stephen M.R. Covey. You can find it at http://whotrustsyou.com/
I think it’s interesting because you can self-assess yourself, and then you can ask others to anonymously assess you too.
It measures how much you trust yourself, and how much others trust you. Once you get 2 responses, you can see the report from others. Each time another responds, you get an updated report.
It’s a simple yet effective way to find out what folks think about your trustworthiness.

Trust is a key indication of how effective you are as a manager, and this doesn’t take much time or energy from anyone, so I recommend you use http://whotrustsyou.com/.
My best advice:
Take the quiz with your personal e-mail address, and send it to 5 or more of your personal network. Include your spouse or significant other if you like.
Take the quiz with your work e-mail address, and send it to your direct reports, and your manager, and a few key folks you serve.
Compare the results.
It’d be great if things perfectly match between home and work.
If things don’t match, think about WHY they don’t match.
Then work to improve your trustworthiness everywhere, including with yourself.
What do you think: Is trustworthiness important?
