Who Will Buy an Apple iPhone?

If you fit the demographic profile, you might be one of the first people to buy an iPhone. The average early adopters of the iPhone are:
- 72% are men
- 58% completed college
- Average age is 31
- 43% live in New York or California
- Average household income of $75,600
Those are the demographic results reported from Digital Live America, Solution Research Group’s independent syndicated trend study. At $499, the iPhone is a steep purchase, so these demographics are not surprising. I’ll be interested to see what the demographic profile of iPhone buyers is once the price drops.
The Apple brand has a lot to gain and a lot to lose with the strong marketing push surrounding the iPhone. It will be interesting to watch the events unfold in the coming months. We’re just nine days away from the iPhone’s release, so it won’t take much longer to hear user feedback.
How about you? Will you be an iPhone early adopter?

I won’t be buying an iPhone anytime soon because it has more bells and whistles than I need. I hear a lot of complaints from folks at work that received the windows version of this product (Windows Mobile PocketPC) when they really only needed a smartphone which gave them the base functionality (mobile phone/e-mail synchronization) they needed.
I agree. I think the vast majority of users won’t need or want the onslaught of functionality the iPhone provides. Perhaps in time that will change, especially when the price drops from $499, but in the short term, I can’t imagine the actual sales volume will meet the hype.
I won’t be buying an iPhone. Apple’s decision to lock people into one carrier and to do away with the normal cell phone rebate to maintain their brand value really doesn’t impress me.
mmmm yer,
i dont think that da iphone is all dat good. It only has a 2 megapixel camera when the Nokia n95 has 5 megapixels, id rather get the Nokia n95. Much better phone than the iphone!!!!
