Who’s Hot In Game Development

ImageJust in case you have nothing better to spend your time on this weekend, Next-Generation has put together an excellent Top 100 list that could expand your gaming horizons. Their Hot 100 Developers 2008 “represents the commercial realities of the products released last year or in the next year” while factoring in “critical reception and innovative and creative contributions to the medium”.

There aren’t many surprises in the Top 10, all the biggest titles are represented there in the form of their developers. Infinity Ward’s Jason West pops in at #3 for examples, catapulted by the success of Call of Duty 4, and Maxis chief Will Wright skips in at #6 largely on the strength of a game that isn’t even released yet.

Consider this a glimpse at what’s red hot at this very moment in the gaming world. You’d bound to find some hidden gems in the list, outside of the obvious big boys that you would expect to be there.
