What a great article Anne and very timely for me! I’ve been struggling with this very concept and you clarified it for me beautifully! Thank you!
Hi Karen… what’s your blog address?
Great article! There is a balance we have to achieve, as in most things. We don’t want to rehash what’s already out there–and some writers do. I think sometimes we don’t trust our own ideas or insights enough–or we haven’t taken sufficient time to mull things over and see how we really feel about something (deep down) before we write about it. We somehow feel like our own opinions aren’t valid, but if we quote from someone else, it will sound more authoritative. Don’t be afraid to say what YOU think and what has worked for YOU when you write.

Everyone who writes anything should read this. We all struggle with wanting our copy to be fresh, new and original.
And I talked about this post over at http://www.startupspark.com/do-you-have-a-swipe-file-the-golden-pencil-tells-you-why-you-need-one/
Thanks everyone.
