Why Can’t I Ignore Available Wi-Fi Networks

It’s not a big deal, but why can’t I ignore networks that are available in some of my “normal” areas that I never use and are always secured?

Wouldn’t it be great to limit your display to only your preferred networks that you regularly connect during your average day of work or whatever?

I would think at the very least that I should be able to suppress them and then be able to redisplay them from another buried list somewhere. I’m just tired of Windows always finding and me always ignoring the ones I never use.

Perhaps the cool thing would be to highlight any unsecured networks that are new in the area. That might be interesting, especially if you’re seated in a new coffee shop or something. Then you’d obviously want to see the available networks.

Let me also say that any major airport that doesn’t offer free wi-fi is really annoying. I was in Indianapolis, St. Louis, Chicago O’Hare and Austin within the last week as I was traveling for SXSW. Not a single airport had a free Internet connection. I would think offering free Internet, but somehow hijacking (interesting word that just popped out as I’m talking about airports eh?) the AdSense on the pages visited during the free sessions would make up for lost revenue wouldn’t it?

My son is starting baseball now and I thought I read somewhere that the sports complex has free wi-fi. That would be great for these multiple days a week 1.5 hour practices.
