Why did McCain pick Palin?
In the wake of multiple “items of interest” emerging since the announcement of Governor Sarah Palin as John McCain’s running mate, some information regarding Senator McCain’s vetting process has been revealed. According to an article from the New York Times, the McCain campaign had spent months interviewing and investigating the other “finalists” such as Minnesota Governor, Tim Pawlenty, but that a serious review of Governor Palin did not begin until “four or five days” before she was chosen. Reportedly, McCain staff members did not get “on the ground” in Alaska until last Thursday (one day before Senator McCain made his announcement). McCain’s first choices for his running mate had been Joe Liebermann and/or Tom Ridge; however, polls among the party revealed that the conservative branch of the party would vehemently oppose either candidate. Also, it’s been suggested that the McCain campaign needed a “shot in the arm” to compete with the “celebrity” of Barack Obama. We’ll, they’ve got the media’s attention now! The McCain campaign insists that they (and the candidate) were aware of the possible strikes against the Senator’s choice but that he chose Governor Palin based on her record of reform and ethics. Regardless of how Senator McCain, his campaign, his party, his opponent and/or the American voter reacts to any (or all) of the “revelations,” there are still serious questions regarding the process which McCain ultimately used to make his decision.

To me, Sarah Palin is a “token” female choice and I am pretty disgusted that she’s going along with being used like that.
What do we know:
- She has only governed a smallish number of people in Alaska which is hardly representative of the people in the United States.
- She only left the country for the first time in 2007.
- She advocates abstinence for teens instead of sex-ed which has apparently gone well for her own daughter (and within my own family failed and I became a mom at 15).
- She built an arena on land her city didn’t own.
- She’s under investigation for trying to have her ex-brother-in-law fired.
- She has a glassy, glazed-over look in her eyes
Oh, there’s one more thing I know. If Obama or Biden had any number of these issues, people would be freaking out.
Obama’s preacher, not even a family member, just SAYS bad things and they are all over him but Palin and her family can DO all kinds of stuff and all of a sudden, it qualifies her as a “real-world woman.”
Okay, I am done, lol :)
Well as a ‘vagina-american’ (stolen from the Colbert report) I can’t be expected to think with my head and vote based on qualifications instead of presence of a vagina.
“pimpin” is what I called it over at my post today…
