Why I Don’t Blog About “What’s Up Tonight?”

[Very busy today cleaning up the dark energy someone spilled in the colloquium room earlier today (I hate being the new guy), so I don't have time for much of a post.  I've been meaning to get the word out about this cool site maintained by one of my colleagues and today's a good day for it, so here it is....]

Because just next door to my office is the guy who writes ‘Skylights‘, an excellent weekly website with a very thorough run-down about interesting goings-on up in the sky.  The website is maintained by Jim Kaler, professor emeritus at the University of Illinois.

I’ve been reading it since I first arrived at U of I in December and really like the thoroughness of his work.

He also has a nice page full of essays and a star of the week page, which contains “stories” (not mythology) of stars and constellations.  I need to have a chat with him about his navigation though.

I also check out Vern’s website on a weekly basis too.  Here’s an example of what he does.  What I like the most about his site is the awesome astrophotography.  Excellent stuff.

See?  No need to do what’s already being done.
