Why I don’t network during Jury Duty

I talk to strangers almost anywhere.
But…yesterday was the first time I had experienced Jury Duty up close and personal. Really, I’ve never gotten the thingy in the mail, I’ve never had to show up. This was all new to me and I was originally thinking…a whole room of bored people? Score!
But wow. From the first person I talked to straight through to the chick in the back room after we’d been picked (‘cause I’m on a jury now y’all) making fun of me for being a freelance writer and then the unfriendly stares of the rest of the table because they now all thought I was writing down notes about them! (I wasn’t, the case is fun enough…) I realized that finding someone great to talk to about fun business stuff was like a needle in a haystack.
A very unhappy haystack.
So I’m not networking there. It’s kind of interesting to know there is finally one place where I won’t network.
Only time will tell if there are more.
