WiiWare and Metroid Prime 3 Trailer

Nintendo has dipped its toes in the cool waters of trailer downloads, allowing us Wii-freaks to sample some of the goodies before they reach the shelves. In the first of what will surely be many more, Nintendo has released the trailer to Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. The trailer is now available for download via the Wii Shop Channel.

But that’s not all!

…to celebrate the forthcoming release of the title, [Nintendo] is also planning to release two games for its virtual console. Nintendo has also renamed August “month of Metroid” (for some reason).

The special trailers are streamed from the internet, so won’t support widescreen or enhanced definition format, but it is the first time that Nintendo has offered downloadable trailers. The offering comes as part of the gaming company’s WiiWare section – which is a means to distribute content on the Wii. At present, only Wii users in the US can see this – European and Japanese gamers won’t be able to see it yet (but we live in hope!)

Something to look forward to.
